VMware Workstation is a test-and-development environment that allows systems administrators to create and run virtual machines (VMs) directly on a desktop.
You can switch between some Operating System frequently while you are using that Operating System in VMware Workstation.

Prerequisites:
1.VMware Workstation whichyou can download from here or VMware Workstation Player from here.
2.Ubuntu that you can download from Ubuntu website.

Following are the steps on how to install Ubuntu on VMware workstation.
1.Open VMware Workstation and click on “New Virtual Machine”.
2.Select “Typical (recommended)” and click “Next”.

3.Select “I will install the operating system later.” and click Next.

4.Select Linux as Guest Operating System and Version Ubuntu and click Next.

5.Choose a name and location for your Virtual Machine. Click Next.

6.Leave the maximum disk size to default (20GB) and select “Store Virtual disk as a single file”. Click Next.

7. Click Finish.

8. Now click on “Edit virtual machine settings”

9. In the hardware section Browse for the Ubuntu ISO image file downloaded from Ubuntu website. Click OK.

10. Click on “Power on this virtual machine.”

11.Once it boots you can Try Ubuntu without install or Install Ubuntu according to your choice.
